Bright Beginnings is working to transform early learning systems by increasing access to quality care for all children and families, and supporting child-centered public policies. Here are the latest updates:

STATE BUDGET: On Friday, February 7th, California Governor Gavin Newsom unveiled his 2020-21 budget which includes an entire chapter on early childhood, reaffirming his focus on children’s issues and on advancing his “Parents Agenda.” Promising elements included expanding early access for children to educational and health care services and easing financial pressures on parents. CHILD CARE HOME ACT: Now that Keeping Kids Close to Home Act (SB 234) is law (effective January 1, 2020), you can help every family child care provider know their rights! To meet the needs of today’s families, SB 234 equalizes and updates state law to encourage and support family child care homes. To learn more, click here
