On September 22, the Department of Homeland Security announced its intention to make sweeping new changes to the ‘public charge’ rules, which are expected to negatively impact millions of children’s health and well-being. First 5 Monterey County joined over 600 organizations to express opposition to the changes, which have already started to impact local families.
