BECOME A FIRST 5 MONTEREY COUNTY COMMISSIONER

First 5 Monterey County, also known as Monterey County Children and Families Commission is seeking candidates to serve on its board of Commissioners.  The recruitment is open to fill one upcoming vacancy in 2018.

The term is 3 years and the time commitment is at least 5 hours a month for review of meeting materials and participation in regular Commission meetings, committee meetings and special events.  Members of the Commission serve without compensation.

Maintaining a board of Commissioners that is balanced in expertise and representation is a key to our success as an organization. Please see the Commissioner Position Details for a full description of the current composition of the Commission and considerations for this recruitment. Some of the attributes that will be considered for this recruitment include:

  • Early childhood education knowledge and experience.
  • Understanding and experience with the formal education system — Infant-toddler/Preschool-K12 system.
  • Understand the cultural complexities of our county, and commitment to working towards racial equity and social justice through systems change.
  • Direct experience working with and significant ties to multicultural communities;
