Earlier this month, Ciclovía returned for the sixth year in a row to Salinas, where 1.6 miles of Alisal Street, from Main Street to Sanborn Street, were opened for community members to enjoy recreational activities, such as running, biking, skating, dancing, playing and more.
Maria Carmen Parra, Bright Beginnings Community Organizer, had a booth promoting Bright Beginnings work and resources for Monterey County families.
“This event was full of parents, children, youth and community. We had a large list (65!) of community signatures supporting early child education in Salinas, specifically Preschool for All,” shared Maria. “The community shared their experiences and inequalities they face when it comes to early childhood learning education systems here in Salinas and some other areas in Monterey County. Everyone we talked to was very excited to see how our work will reshape our system and provide helpful early childhood development resources to families.”
We’re excited to report that our Salinas CAT will continue working to promote universal preschool at community events and schools, to reinforce that all children should have the same opportunity to thrive.
