A recent article, “Some smaller districts enroll younger 4-year-olds in early kindergarten” published by EdSource, featured the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District’s (MPUSD) accomplishment to expand the transitional kindergarten (TK) program which now serves children with 5th birthdays up to March 1st. With this expansion, MPUSD has seen TK enrollment double and grow from offering this program at seven elementary schools to all eleven in the district. The article also referenced some of our data, that was shared two years ago with MPUSD, to further advocate for the expansion of TK programs throughout the district.
