All In for Bright Beginnings

Bright BeginningsAdvocacy, Community

“It is in collectivities that we find reservoirs of hope and optimism.”
― Angela Y. Davis, Freedom Is a Constant Struggle

As we find ourselves in a moment to lean more than ever into the Bright Beginnings’ values of equity and co-creation; culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches; and holistic, informed and results-driven solutions, I am honored and humbled to share some news.

Inspired by the amazing work of steadfast early childhood development champions — like you — and over a year of recruiting for a new lead, I have realized that the Bright Beginnings Early Childhood Development Initiative is where I am called to be for the long-run.

Today I am officially fully on board in role as lead for Bright Beginnings. Guided by Angela Davis’ words, I know that together, we will rise even higher in this unprecedented time to transform early care and learning systems, so that all children – regardless of the color of their skin and despite the disruptions caused by the pandemic – have what they need to be ready for life, ready to learn.

Thank you for your warm welcome and dedication to the children of Monterey County.

With commitment,

Sonja Koehler
